This drabble contains spoilers for Slytherin's Legacy #2: Enemies of the Heir.
There's a frenzy of emotion swelling up in Delphi's chest, but she pushes it down, pushes it away, because she can't bear to acknowledge it--to feel it--until she knows that it's worth feeling. This is far too important to get wrong.
"Harry..." Delphi licks her lips, eager and yet petrified to break the one golden rule of her years at Hogwarts. "Can you understand me?"
He looks bewildered at the sound of her hissing, and beside them, both Ron, Hermione, and Neville are unmistakably stricken. Delphi's heart races; she fears she's just scared away her only friends.
Then--
"Of course. ...why wouldn't I?" Harry hisses back to her.
Ron goes deathly pale; Hermione claps a hand over her mouth; Neville honest-to-Merlin collapses to the floor.
And all Delphi wants is to sweep Harry up into her arms and never let him go.
