Definitions
- Ares - Greek god of war and battle
- Baal - principally thought of as a Canaanite fertility deity; inscriptions have shown that the name Baʿal was particularly associated with the storm and fertility god Hadad
- Charybdis - a nymph-daughter of Poseidon and Gaia who flooded lands for her father's underwater kingdom until Zeus turned her into a monster (whirlpool)
- Dionysus - the god of wine, agriculture, and fertility of nature
- Egeria - a nymph attributed a legendary role in the early history of Rome as a divine consort and counselor of the Sabine second king of Rome, Numa Pompilius, to whom she imparted laws and rituals pertaining to ancient Roman religion
- Fenrir - is a gigantic and terrible monster in the shape of a wolf; the eldest child of Loki and the giantess Angrboda; the wolf and his family would one day be responsible for the destruction of the world
- Gaea - Earth or Mother Earth
- Hades - the lord of the dead and ruler of the nether world
- Isis - a goddess from the polytheistic pantheon of Egypt worshiped as the ideal mother and wife as well as the patroness of nature and magic
- Juno - the protector and special counselor of the state
- Kali - the Hindu mother goddess, symbol of dissolution and destruction; destroys ignorance, maintains the world order, and blesses and frees those who strive for the knowledge of God
- Lakshmi - Hindu goddess of good fortune and beauty
- Maui - a culture hero famous for his exploits and his trickery (Māori mythology); a wise man or prophet who taught the art of obtaining fire by friction of wood (Tahitian mythology)

- Pangu - primordial Chinese giant who was born as a dwarf from the cosmic egg whose eyes became the sun and the moon, his head the four sacred mountains, his blood the seas and the rivers, his hair turned into the grasses and trees, his breath became the wind, his sweat turned into rain, and his voice into thunder; alternately was born from the five elements, and that he created heaven and earth with a chisel and a hammer
- Quetzalcoatl - the creator sky-god and wise legislator
- Ravana - ten-headed demon king of Ceylon in Hindu myth; kidnaps Sita (an incarnation of Lakshmi)
- Sedna - Inuit goddess of the sea and the creatures that inhabit it
- Thanatos - Greek personification of death who dwells in the lower world
- Ulysses - Latin equivalent of the Greek Odysseus
- Valhalla - Hall of the Slain, in Norse mythology is the hall presided over by Odin
- Wyvern - creature very similar to a dragon except it only has four limbs (2 wings, 2 hind legs) and is smaller in size
- Xanadu - the capital of Kublai Khan's Yuan dynasty in China; a place of great beauty, luxury, and contentment
- Yggdrasil - also called the World Tree, is the giant ash tree that links and shelters all the worlds
- Ziggurat - a terraced step pyramid
