Could be: - guard and DB secretly in love with each other and this is their way of getting together - just some harmless fun and they part on good terms afterwards (and the guard thoroughly enjoys his new armour) - half the city guards end up wearing their new dragon scale armour and they all know what the others had to do to get it...
