Title: Reversed Roles
Fandom: Parabellum (original fiction)
Wordcount: 345
Pairing(s): Simon Ides/Stelian Frost & Sparrow/Nadia Sen
Contains: Alternate Universe - Reversed Roles, pre-polyamory
Prompt(s):
2x5obsessions reversed roles
Notes: I considered swapping Sparrow and Frost's roles for this prompt, then decided it would be more interesting to swap Sparrow and Simon (especially since I had little to no experience writing F/F).Since writing this, I've started a WIP based on the former premise.
Sparrow couldn't imagine what Simon was going through. She'd been here two years now, subject to the whims of every insane motherfucker in the Circle, Frost included. But she'd never seen Frost like this before. The man was obsessed with this new victor, and... well, saying it made her uncomfortable was a drastic understatement.
She would have liked to say that Simon had a good thing going for himself; Frost protected him from the worst of the a victor's experience... but that didn't mean he was getting away unscathed. Hell, for all she knew, he didn't even like men, and now he was doomed to spend the rest of his life with one, whether he wanted to or not. Good things, it seemed, were relative here.
Sparrow rolled over in her bed, and her gaze fell on Nadia. She scooted forward, slipping her arm around the other woman's waist, and cuddled in close.
If things went on the way they were--if Simon kept getting her tangled up in his nightmare, using her as a way to make the nights he spent with Frost more bearable--she was going to lose the future she'd been clinging to the idea of for the past year. Frost would tear her hopes apart without a second thought to give Simon what he wanted, and if Frost decided that what Simon wanted was her, Frost wouldn't hesitate to make sure she spent the rest of her life up there, too.
Sparrow clung to Nadia, burying her face in the other woman's hair.
She had been through hell these past two years, but there was an end in sight... and only now did she understand just how fragile that dream was. Frost could tear it all away in a moment. Any of the Circle could.
And playing pet to one of these monsters was something Sparrow knew she wouldn't be able to survive. If her hope for freedom dried up as she knew Simon's eventually would, she would die.
Sparrow was so glad it was Simon upstairs instead of her.
